The El Dorado Fire Department was one of several departments that responded to a grass fire at 12:54 p.m. Friday as part of the North Task Force.
The grass fire was reported to be in the area of SW Parallel west of Morley Road in Towanda’s Fire District. Once firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a large grassfire spreading to the northeast at a high rate due to the high winds.
The fire caused an area in northwest El Dorado to be evacuated and roads to be closed for a period while the fire was brought under control. There was one inhabited home that sustained structural damage, although it was not a total loss. There also were five shed-type buildings that sustained major fire damage, if not considered a total loss.
More details will be released as they are available.
