Experience El Dorado and Butler Community College are joining forces to combine two events into one great parade.
The Grizzly Gold Parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 27 and is the first event of this year’s City of Gold Festival, which will be held Sept. 17 through 24, as well as part of Butler’s Grizzlyfest, celebrating the start of the new college year and Butler’s first football game that week.
“It’s exciting to join with Butler to hold this parade for the community,” said Javan Gonzalez, City of El Dorado’s Destination Services Coordinator. “We are hoping for a great turnout to kick off the year for Butler and get people excited about the new Gold Fest, happening in September.”
The parade is open to anyone who wants to have a float or other entry. While there is not a specific theme for the parade, it is a great opportunity to show off your gold and purple colors. The parade will begin at the North Main Shopping Center, travel south on Main Street and end at Gordy Park.
Those not in the parade are encouraged to bring out their lawn chair and enjoy the parade. A few lucky parade attendees will receive passes to Butler’s football game that week and free buttons to Gold Fest.
“We hope to see everyone out there,” Gonzalez said. “It’s going to be a great time for the whole community!”
A registration form can be found here. To sign up, please email the form to events@eldoks.com or call Gonzalez at 321-9100. Parade registrations are due by Aug. 19.
