The City of El Dorado prides itself on upholding the motto “The Fine Art of Living Well.” This motto extends beyond the services provided to citizens and visitors into the municipal structure of El Dorado’s governing offices. City management and departments attempt to foster well-being in their work places every day in order to cultivate an environment conducive to exceptional services for our community.

On December 29, 2014 these efforts were recognized by the American Heart Association when the City of El Dorado was announced as a Gold Level Fit Friendly Employer. El Dorado was one of 323 worksites across the 11-state Midwest region to receive the honor.

Steered by the Wellness Committee, the City of El Dorado has shown a commitment to promoting a wellness culture and implementing healthy cultural changes in the work environment. The goal of these cultural changes and wellness programs is multifaceted. The City believes employees who feel their health and well-being is valued by their employer are more likely to be successful in the workplace. Success in City offices, whether at a desk in City Hall or operating a roll-off truck, translates to a higher quality of service for our citizens. A conscious effort to promote health and wellness extends positive practices deeper into the community that many City staff calls home.

The City of El Dorado will continue to champion health for its employees and citizens. As the El Dorado community welcomes 2015, please consider what your organization is doing to promote “The Fine Art of Living Well.”
