[ARCHIVED] Project at Gordy St. & Central Ave.

Gordy & Central Water Main Break

Over the past few weeks, the City's Public Utilities Department has been working hard to isolate the three water main breaks at Gordy St. and Central Ave.  These breaks were a result of an early morning pressure spike on December 23, 2018.

Because this water main consists of a 90+ year cast iron pipe, the repairs for this break have needed more extensive planning and execution.  The crew is currently waiting on parts and plans to start replacement of the water line later next week.  The street repairs are tentatively scheduled to start by the third week in January.  During this time please be aware of traffic control in that area that will narrow down the streets to one lane in each direction.

While working on this main water line, the crew hopes to not disrupt service. However, there is a possibility of having a minimal disruption of an hour or less.  If they plan on having an interruption in water service, residents in the area will be notified in advance.

If you have questions or concerns regarding this water main break or other water quality questions, please contact Public Utilities at 316-322-4411.
